Pennyroyal Silver Does Music and Hollywood Proud

Jewelry line Pennyroyal Silver is quite busy lately, with two fabulous collaborations going on. Designer Tim Foster creates jewelry with a message, which is inspired by his true passion for music, as he is an industry veteran. Each piece is designed with a song in mind, and just like those songs, it is the minor imperfections in each piece that makes them come to life, and gives them value. The line started with a hammer and a penny and has grown exponentially since then, with full collections of jewelry that is wearable, fresh and truly inspired.

Most recently, Burton and Pennyroyal Silver teamed with singer Jewel to create a limited edition pendant whose proceeds will go to “Give a Drop,” one of Project Clean Water’s campaigns. Burton’s love of philanthropy and music came together, as Jewel and Burton were able to get creative musically, and support a charity that they both believe in. The silver water droplet pendant is fun to wear and a great way to look stylish whilst giving back. The pendant retails for $90.

Alongside his collaboration with Jewel, Pennyroyal Silver has made a commemorative piece of jewelry for the release of Alice in Wonderland. The “Drink Me” pendant is a bit gothic, showcasing the darker side of the movie, and is edgy yet remains elegant as well. Anne Hathaway recently picked up the necklace to celebrate the movie, and her fantastic role in it. This “Drink Me” pendant retails for $145, and you can use the coupon code “Alice” throughout the month of March for 25% off. There are only 1000 numbered pieces, so hurry up. Alice in Wonderland is the hottest movie of the year, and any of the merchandise is definitely on trend, fun and will be wearable forever.

For more information, and to view and shop these and the other fabulous items from the collection, visit Pennyroyal Silver.

2010 Oscars Red Carpet: Pinks, Blues and Gold All Over

The biggest red carpet celebration has just passed us by, the 82nd Academy Awards. But we wouldn’t let this day full of entertainment icons pass us by without discussing the fabulous fashions worn on the famous red carpet. This year, the Oscars celebration was full of vibrant hues from blues to pinks, with many starlets channeling the statue itself in metallic and nude tones. An evening full of ladies dressed up like real like princesses, these women are true style icons, and this carpet is their catwalk. So now, a rundown of the fashions at the 2010 Academy Awards.

There is no better way to start off than by the winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress, and America’s Sweetheart, Sandra Bullock. The celebrity icon looked statuesque and fit for her statue in a gold Marchesa gown and Jimmy Choo “Quiet” sandals. A true golden goddess, if we don’t say so ourselves.

Now, for the ladies in pink, and there were quite a few of them, in all shades of the feminine, flirty and perfect for spring hue. Anna Kendrick was a pretty pretty princess in her Elie Saab Haute Couture gown and a Judith Leiber clutch. Her co-star Vera Farmiga through hot pink out of the park in her stunning Marchesa number, and she pulled off the ruffles with perfection.

Next up is Demi Moore who was glowing in an Atelier Versace dress, Versace sandals, a Ferragamo Clutch and Van Cleef and Arpels jewels.

Rachel McAdams may have been my personal favorite of the night. Her watercolored Elie Saab Haute Couture gown and Ferragamo clutch were to die for. The dress lit up against the carpet, and the starlet looked like a real fashion icon.

Penelope Cruz, the on-screen siren, definitely looked hot in a Donna Karan Couture dress and Roger Vivier Haute Couture Folies clutch.

Singer, actress and all around amazingness Jennifer Lopez stunned in Giorgio Armani Prive gown and clutch with Cartier jewels and Ferragamo pumps.

Queen Latifah looked truly regal in her fabulous jeweled frock, and the lines of the dress are truly eye-catching.

From pinks to purples, Zoe Saldana’s dress was the talk of the night. With a jeweled top and a ruffled bottom full of color, she looked radiant from head to toe, and those shoes were seriously amazing. The dress was Givenchy, and we hope she gets to keep that stunner.

In line with Zoe Saldana was Charlize Theron who took a fashion risk. Love it or hate it, you decide, we are going with love. It is truly a high fashion couture piece, and if anyone can pull that off, it is Charlize. The dress was Dior Couture, as were the shoes, which she paired with Harry Winston jewels.

Now, the other favorite color of the evening was blue, although none of these ladies looked like they had the blues. From pale to navy and everything in between, navy is a safe color, but many of these ladies went far from playing it safe with their fashion choices.

First up, we have Maggie Gyllenhaal who looked like the belle of the ball in her Dried Van Noten gown, that looked a bit to us like the famous “Starry Night” painting.

Law and Order: SVU is one of my personal favorite shows, and no one truly realizes how stunning Mariska Hargitay is until she pops out on the red carpet. For the Academy Awards, the television star dazzled in navy Vera Wang paired with Fred Leighton jewels.

Mo’Nique went straight for the cobalt blue trend, and looked stunning in a Tadashi Shoji gown, Swarovski “Fan” clutch and Jimmy Choo “Clue” Platform Sandals. Her husband was quite the hot accessory, too.

Mariah Carey looked sexy yet totally refined in her Valentino number, with a stunning side slit, and H. Stern jewels.

Newcomer to the carpet, Gabourey Sidibe, maybe getting a ton of acclaim for her role in Precious, but we must say, she is truly taking some awesome fashion risks along the way. The starlet looked stunning in a gown by Marchesa and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Stunner Elizabeth Banks looked positively glowing in her Versace blue-gray gown, with detailing to die for.

Los Angeles fashionista and designer Nicole Richie graced the carpet in a fabulous boho-chic ensemble. The dress was Reem Acra which she paired with a Judith Leiber clutch, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Bally shoes.

Another popular color on the red carpet was metallics and nude tones, as if the celebrities were trying to re-incarnate the Oscar statue themselves. However, they looked dazzling in nude, which looked fresh and fun on the carpet.

Starlet Amanda Seyfried looked absolutely beautiful in an Armani Prive gown with Swarovski beaded detailing and Brian Atwood “Katie Bis” pumps.

Miley Cyrus looked age appropriate, fun and fashion forward in her Jenny Packham frock.

Cameron Diaz, Hollywood’s “it” girl, graced the red carpet in an Oscar de la Renta Fall 2010 collection dress with Cartier jewels, a Roger Vivier “Sesame” clutch and Brian Atwood gold satin “Wagner” pumps.

Kate Winslet played the part of the sophisticated, chic actress, which was not a stretch at all, in her Yves Saint Laurent dress and Tiffany gems.

Meryl Streep wore a dress by Project Runway alum, Chris March, which she accented with a Swarovski clutch and Jimmy Choo “Zena” sandals. The woman can do no wrong, I swear.

Trend-setting celebutante Diane Kruger failed to disappoint as she looked fabulous in her Chanel dress and Jaeger-Le-Coultre diamond bracelet.

Never is there a red carpet that passes that celebrities do not wear black. However, this year, the black dresses were bold and statement worthy, and nowhere near boring.

To start, we have Carey Mulligan, who looked fierce yet elegant in a Prada dress with “raso doppio tec” material, which she paired perfectly with Prada pleated “Duchesse” heels and a Prada clutch.

Country crooner, and total hottie, Faith Hill spruced up the red carpet in her black gown with black lace detailing. She looked rocker worthy and jaw-dropping.

Comedienne Tina Fey looked beautiful on the red carpet in a Michael Kors one shouldered gown, Jimmy Choo pumps, a Kotur clutch and Stephen Russell jewels.

And last, but certainly not least, is Sarah Jessica Parker. If there is a red carpet that she is on, she will definitely be note-worthy, make a statement and look totally fabulous. Tonight, I’m not sure if she was playing herself or channeling Carrie Bradshaw, but either way, she looked like the sophisticated, savvy New York City girl in Los Angeles. She brought her rays of sunshine with her, and woo’ed the crowd in her Chanel Couture gown and Fred Leighton jewels. The neckline was unlike anything I have ever seen, but the dress complimented with metallic rosettes in the front and back, was innovative, fun and dazzled on the carpet.

Oscar-Worthy Bijoux: Martine Wester’s Chandelier Earrings

The Academy Awards are just days aways and we are anxiously awaiting the amazing dresses and jewels that our favorite starlets will be wearing.

Red-carpet fashion is not only for the Hollywood set, but for all women longing to feel glamorous and beautiful. Martine Wester’s Waterfall Chandelier Earrings are worthy of their own award. Adorned in glimmering rhinestone crystals, they can make even a white t-shirt and jeans look stunning. They were also worn by Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, so they are already stamped with the seal of star approval.

The Waterfall Chandelier Earrings retail for $157.50. To purchase, visit www.martinewester.com.

Barbie by Christian Louboutin, Part Deux

It was hard to not hear about the fabulous collaboration between Barbie, and her god-father, Monsieur Louboutin. The first doll, the Cat Burglar, launched in November, and sold out with rave reviews. Now, everyone’s favorite trend-setter has received her second head to toe makeover by the uber designer, for a look that is fresh for spring, and totally Parisian chic.

Dressed in a khaki, safari-inspired dress and over the knee, hot pink fringed boots, Barbie looks fashion forward, chic and well, damn, those boots are amazing! This look is completely different from the Cat Burglar, and represents a different facet of the Christian Louboutin woman. And the added bonus, this doll comes with a wardrobe of three alternate pairs of shoes, complete with mini Christian Louboutin boxes and bags. I don’t know what is more fun, carrying your own Louboutin box, or being able to dress your Barbie doll in different shoes each day. I must say, the safari look has never looked so glam.

The ultimate collectible item, Safari Barbie by Christian Louboutin, will be available starting tomorrow, March 3, for $150 at Net-A-Porter and BarbieCollector.com, but you better hurry.  This fashionable lady has many admirers; there’s already a wait list! And hopefully, I am at the top of it. And remember, this is only the second of the line of Barbie by Christian Louboutin, there will be a third released in May, so stay tuned.

Shoshanna Made With Love Charlotte Ronson, Part 2

Designers extraordinaire and best friends, Shoshanna Gruss and Charlotte Ronson have teamed up for a second season of their line, Made With Love. This collection features matching mommy-and-me cover-ups and bikinis in three prints, all with a very retro vibe that is beachy paired with sophistication.

Along with swimwear, the designers created a limited edition tie-dye tote, which has already garnered celebrity fans including Kristen Bell, Emmy Rossum and Michelle Trachtenberg. The bag is perfect to pair with your go-to jeans and t-shirt or to hold your favorite magazines, iPod and sunscreen for hitting the beach.

Now, fashion mavens can dress head to toe in two of their favorite designers while soaking up the rays, which probably won’t be the only thing staring down at them. Shoshanna Gruss creates girly, flirty, fun pieces while Charlotte Ronson focuses on the more edgy and glam. The marriage between the two designers has an outcome that is stunning and is sure to make every girl long for summertime. The prints full of 60s and 70s retro flair are bold and fun, while remaining classic and the epitome of beach chic.

The mommy-and-me swimwear and cover-ups retail from $66 to $220, and the Tie-Dye Wooded Beach Bag retails for $154 at ShopBop. If you don’t have a daughter, grab your closest niece, sister, friend’s daughter, whoever, because this mommy-and-me look is anything but stale, in fact, it is serious boy bait. The collection is up for grabs this month.

Yes, Celebrities Read Too

Celebrities are constantly on the move, whether it be to a fabulous vacation locale or a set in a far-off destination. With all of that travel, it can’t be easy to carry books around, after all, they pack quite a bit of clothing, which is sure to hit the weight capacity on most airlines.

Take a cue from AnnaLynne McCord, who was spotted backstage at the Jill Stuart show during New York Fashion Week with her Nook, Barnes & Noble’s new e-reader. McCord, a self proclaimed tech geek, brings her Nook wherever she goes, even to the hottest fashion soiree in town. Edwing D’Angelo Takes His Fashions Behind the Scenes

For the second year in a row, luxury designer Edwing D’Angelo has been asked to be the featured designer at the NAACP Awards, with a presentation backstage for celebrities and super lucky VIP’s. I had the chance to speak with D’Angelo today, in the middle of his preparations for the show, to learn a bit about him and a lot about his glamorous collection.

Just coming off from New York Fashion Week, the runway collections will be worn by models backstage at the NAACP Awards, who will also act as hosts, escorting celebrities on stage. Chyna Layne, of Precious, who is the designer’s current muse, will also be one of the celebrities wearing one of the designers custom made creations.

D’Angelo is Columbian born, and the 5th in a generation of tailors, who took his unique acquired skill-set to the next level, with a lot of passion, and even more work. After graduating from law school, he worked in law firms for 12 years, but always had a passion to be doing something different. When his sister’s prom came about, he designed her dress, and instantly, her friends all wanted something created by the designer. From there, his line of one-of-a-kind, high-end pieces was created. Well, not that easily. He worked for 2 years more as a lawyer, saving every penny, working at nights, and having people put together his samples during the day while he worked. After two years, he officially left law, and became a designer extraordinaire. In August of 2002, his first boutique opened in Harlem.

Two of the first celebrities to don his gowns were Vivica Fox and Patti la Belle. With the success of the line, and its ultra luxurious vibe, the designer picked up and moved his boutique to SoHo. For Fall/Winter 2010, his 10th collection, he was inspired by 1940s and 50s New York and Barbra Streisand’s “New York State of Mind.” Back in the day when women all dressed to a peek of sophistication, fully dressed, with the arrival of second tier monarchies and princess moving to New York, D’Angelo sought to bring that vibe back with a modern twist of edge. Black was the predominant color, with pops of other colors throughout, and his signature orange lining giving an added kick. The designer is way ahead, and even let me know that for Spring 2011, he is thinking of a garden-ish theme, with Lost Eden as the inspiration.

The Edwing D’Angelo collection has a young, modern vibe that is fresh yet luxurious. He dreams of dressing Megan Fox, Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Lautner and Will Smith (yes, his line is available for men, too). His show backstage at the NAACP Awards is part of his plan of moving into the Hollywood lifestyle, garnering a larger following amongst celebrities and high-end consumers. While his pieces are one-of-a-kind, he plans to expand to create pieces that are also off the rack, but he will still continue designing unique pieces for his clientele. Regardless, he plans to stick to creating collections that are epitomized by sheer elegance.

For more information, visit Edwing D’Angelo.

High Fashion meets high society

I thought I saw it all last week. During a Caribbean sojourn late one night, I was traipsing the channels and stumbled on MTV’s hoopla of a program for Puff Daddy’s 16 year-old, and the events surrounding his “super  sixteen” party. Mini Puffy was ushered towards his massive crowd, after a very P-Ditty video intro, on a throne complete with crown and sceptre.

I’m not sure if I went projectile from the copious amounts of champagne along with Appleton and Diet Cokes, or if it was the show itself. I’m hoping, and pretty darn sure, this will not be the case with CW’s new creation, High Society.

The newest reality show on the same network that brings us Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries and 90210, among others, will follow self-proclaimed “Park Avenue Princess” Tinsley Mortimer and her posh posse as they gallivant Manhattan’s most prestigious black-tie affairs, outrageous parties and fashion exclusives, and obvs, never-before-seen access from behind the velvet rope.

For the premiere Tinsley wore Jose Duran, a definite rising star in New York’s fashion scene. His vibrant colored satins and wool crepes always show off as beautiful prêt a porter. He says his inspiration derives from a church massacre that occurred in his hometown during the Haitian revolution.

Catch High Society on Wednesday March 10, 9:30 pm to 10 pm EST after the 90-minute premiere of America’s Next Top Model.

For more information on High Society go to www.cwtv.com.

Katy Perry’s puuuurfect tee

Some may say songstress Katy Perry is the cat’s meow. And now she wears that moniker on her sleeve, errrrr, ummm, top we mean.

But beyond the frisky feline connotation, Perry actually was wearing Trash & Luxury Cat’s Meow tee last week in L.A. This fun fierce top won’t totally break the bank, and completely looks stylin’ for the gym, yoga or playing Wii chez vous.

Perry wore the top with Capri style leggings and runners, but you could pass it off with cute boyshorts or cigarette jeans. Whatever the choice, it’ll all look hot with this print of Julie Newmar as Catwoman.

For more info on Trash & Luxury and where to purchase, go to www.trashandluxury.com.
