No one’s quite like Paul Smith. The British dandy’s aesthetic is always non-traditional, always interesting and his ability to constantly gentrify fashion, as we know it, is what keeps him on top of his game. This summer the collection is graceful and stylish, it re-renders classic menswear and simple pieces in a newfangled manner, crisp and clean contours define silhouettes with effortless shapes in bright hues. Salutes are made to David Byrne and David Bowie, where mod meets punk in perfect harmony.
The palette this summer is dominated by solid blacks, navys and grays with loud splashes of color and silver. Club collared shirts are paired with ultra-skinny ties and reserved lapels. Accessories are solid silver safety pins and paper clips and leather boots. The pants of the warmer season are low-rise, relaxed with a slim leg and are worn with classic English slip-ons. The temperament is definitely relaxed, breezy, fluid and open.

Denim has become so much more than something you throw on during the weekend or on a day when you’re feeling casual. All the avant-garde techniques used on denim today make it a way to turn heads while maintaining a level of comfort not normally associated with fashion.
G-Star is a frontrunner in the denim design race. For their Fall 2010 Collection, they are presenting the elegant and more sophisticated side of denim: “The G-Star Fall/Winter 2010 NY RAW Men’s and Women’s Collections demonstrates the fusion of denim craftsmanship, elegant tailoring and sophisticated silhouettes in vibrant colors. Eye-catching metallic washes and treatments further enhance the collections, highlighting the inventive and truly original aesthetic that is distinctively G-Star.” The urban feel that is always G-Star is still present, but the shapes and lines are clean and can serve as perfect additions to your Fall wardrobe.
G-Star’s Fall 2010 Collection makes its debut in 8 days. Stay tuned for POSHGLAM’s review.

After getting acquainted with David Alexander on Twitter, I realized, clothing design is about the love of wearable art. You see, style is a staple and fashion is its adornment. Style has its place; its timeless and classic. However fashion comes around to spice it up and help us call on the present and future.
Though reminiscent of yesteryear’s glitz, David’s designs take acceptable standards and bring them up to 21st century taste. He works hard to be forward-thinking with his creations and impresses us with each innovative step.
So I gave him a little twitter interview and found:
David Alexander, fashion designer+comedian, loves prepping dresses. When he’s not designing, he likes to watch Tyler Perry’s character, Madea, and do silly nerdy things like make his friends laugh. David plays video games, watches cartoons and goes to the gym everyday twice a day. He loves glitter because it’s so wicked sparkly! You will find that most of his designs have a glimmer as a testament to his love of sparkle.

What Goes Around Comes Around, the vintage-inspired collection created by designer Gerard Maione, has celebrities from Katy Perry and Lou Doillon to Malin Akerman falling in love. The collection draws inspiration from the new generation of chic beatniks and bohemians, which he refers to as “gypsetters.” The modern day jet-setting woman who lives a bohemian lifestyle is the muse for Maione’s eclectic collection inspired by travel and 1960s Morocco. Fashion from decades past is brought back to life in this modern contemporary line.
In the latest collection, the unique fabrics are shared by both the men’s and women’s lines. The fabrics include a vintage military print, 1960’s ikat prints and 1970’s tie-dye, which Maione ties together beautifully throughout. What may create fabulous men’s pants transforms into women’s overall shorts with ease, unifying his men’s and women’s lines into a complete lifestyle collection.
The women’s collection encompasses bright jewel tones and includes breezy crinkle chiffon slip dresses, embroidered voile peasant tops, geometric diamond motif pieces and soft plaids and floral silk rompers. The nod to vintage fashion is omnipresent, yet each piece is also refreshingly modern. The men’s collection has a more neutral-toned focus with smaller bursts of color and an array of prints, rendering a Native American feel paired with the modern day hippie lifestyle. This collection consists of drawstring pants and shorts, a series of slub cotton tees and tanks and fine Japanese woven shirts.
To make each collection even more special, What Goes Around Comes Around offers Custom and Authentic Vintage pieces, which are made in limited supply. For this season, the offerings include everything from Indian blanket-patched vintage pieces and over-dyed, feathered denim to Indian blanket studded belts and destroyed denim vests and jackets. The nod to travel and nomadic, free-loving, hippie lifestyle is a prevalent motif in each collection. The saying “What Goes Around Comes Around” doesn’t have to mean karma. In this case, it means that the trends from the past are coming back around, and making their presence known within the beauty of today’s modern world.
For more information, visit What Goes Around Comes Around. The collection is sold at select luxury retailers worldwide.

Elie Tahari loves jetsetters and so do we.
“My Fall 2010 collection is homage to the great women who traveled the globe in style.” With Fashion Week in New York, London, Paris, and Milan approaching, this inspiration couldn’t be more perfect.
The look channels a globe-trotting heroine who blends the perfect mix of modern and classic styles. The tailoring is polished from the cropped jacket to the slim-fitting pant. Naturally, no excursionist can do without fur for those arctic climates, so Tahari features that as well.
There are a mere twelve days until Elie Tahari’s Fall 2010 collection hits the runways. POSHGLAM will be there in the middle of the action.

Spring is around the corner and it is time to lighten up with the House of Spy’s latest collection. A mélange of fun, flirty and fabulous, the line of printed frocks and jumpsuits is perfect for warmer weather.
Brainchild of former biology student, Wendy Wong, House of Spy is now a wardrobe staple in every fashionista’s closet in Ontario, Canada, where the brand was launched. To our delight, it is slowly creeping into stylish boutiques in the US and throughout the rest of the globe. The brand is gaining popularity and reaching new heights at the speed of light; it was named one of the world’s best brands by Sportswear International in 2007.
The new collection resonates with this season’s edgy playfulness. With strong prints and bold hues, these clothes make statements all their own. The tangerine hued draped dress and asymmetrical hemlines evoke lots of edgy attitude while the dirndl silhouette and empire-line dress instill a feminine vibe. The one key item from the collection that caught my eye, however, was the cropped jumpsuit with its perfect tailoring and flawless fit.
Go ahead and add a little zing to your wardrobe with the House of Spy
The collection is available all over New York and California and can be purchased online at the House of Spy.

Designer Nicholas Clements-Lindsey of the stunning line NCL couture has a passion project up his sleeves. It is innovative, fun and offers a new take on fashion collections. Nicholas’ newest line, James Embry, releases a new piece each month for the calendar year, culminating in December with a 12-piece collection all founded with the same inspiration. And even better, Nicholas paired with the American Red Cross, giving a portion of the proceeds of James Embry to the charity.
All the pieces, debuted a month at a time, are sold through December 31st. After the last day of the year, the collection will be no longer available. 2011 will bring forward an entirely new collection which will also have 12 new pieces to bring it all together. In essence, the pieces become collector’s items. .
James Embry is an androgynous line, meant for men and women alike. As a result, Nicholas found a really fun way to handle sizing. The sizes are Infinite Haute, Haute, Double Haute and Haute Love (from smaller to larger respectively). January introduced the Original Haute Thermal and February brings in the Haute Spike Jacket. Each piece comes in a variety of colors, and can be made to order by contacting the designer. However, with the listing of colors available, you most likely will find exactly what you are looking for.
For those women that like their clothing a little on the loose side, James Embry has the perfect offerings. Menswear always seems to fit women with such ease, and Nicholas tuned in on this for his collection. The thermals, especially, are soft and fabulous for all seasons. I love the burst of color. It may just be the ultimate layering piece.
James Embry retails for $54.50 to $600 and is available at James-Embry. His idea to offer a new piece each month for a year’s time is such a fabulous concept. Additionally, these basics are sure to never go out of style, making each piece a worthwhile investment. Each James Embry garment will leave you waiting in anticipation for the next month’s offering. Come December, you’ll be dressed head-to-toe in James Embry, looking sophisticated, casual and super cool.
So you are spending this upcoming Valentine’s Day alone? Big deal, we all spend some of those fabulous “Hallmark” holidays alone occasionally. However, you probably have some of your ex boyfriend’s old clothes lingering around your house, and yes, they look way better on you than they ever did on him. That is the concept behind Erge’s “Been Dumped” Tee.
Erge is a line of luxury t-shirts comprised of a large color palette, fabulous textures and innovative architecture, transforming your everyday basic into art. In the spirit of menswear to be worn on a woman, the “Been Dumped” Tee was created with a loose fit and large pocket detailing. The best part of the shirt is that it feels like something you wish your boyfriend would have worn, and left at your house, because it’s soft, cozy feel makes it seem like it has been well worn in with love.
The Erge “Been Dumped” Tee is available in Black, Mist, Breeze and Sugar and retails for $52 at ErgeRetail. Being dumped never looked so good. Fortunately, the Erge tee gives you the comfortable, worn-in “boyfriend” tee without the drama of a break-up. The site is also offering 40% off site-wide from now through Valentine’s Day, so shop away.
Would you like to win the Erge “Been Dumped” Tee (All Sweater Knit) in Mist? Enter to win by emailing Samantha@POSHGLAM.com, subject “Erge” and include your name, email and mailing address.

I was so happy to see Kathy Rose’s collection win Launch My Line on Bravo. Native Rose is vibrant, feminine and stylish. I pulled some pictures from her sale on RueLaLa.com and I look forward to hearing more about the collection. Kathy is very talented and it’s nice to see her creative ingenuity fold over into clothes from jewelry. Kathy was by far the most deserving of the launch. Hopefully the television show will help her gain the positioning she deserves.
For Fall 2010, Nicole Miller’s inspiration is “street”. She hails from New York City, the original concrete jungle, so the influence is fitting.
Miller’s sketch shows all the things we crave for Fall from menswear to clean lines and outerwear to make heads turn. The look is expertly tailored with panelling throughout and strong shoulders, exuding a feeling of total power and confidence.
Miller’s Fall 2010 collection debuts on February 12th so stay tuned for POSHGLAM’s review.
