Your Inner Bride Will Be "Unveiled" on Melrose Place
By Samantha
Even if you aren’t in the midst of planning a wedding, we know that you have thought about yours, from your dress to the lucky suitor who you will be honeymooning with. If you live in LA (and if you don’t, you might consider making the trip), on March 28th, the famed Melrose Place will be transformed into a bridal paradise with “Unveiled: Bridal Style Revealed.” From 11AM to 4PM, the tree lined street will turn into a mecca for all of a bride’s needs, from the dress and makeup to the linens, invitations and catering. This is the one-stop-shop for your dream wedding.
The event will feature designs from Monique Lhullier, Carolina Herrera and Temperley London, who will graciously open their stores with models showcasing their latest bridal designs. Ports 1961 and Vince will be open for shoppers to buy their perfect wedding guest outfit, or jut a great ensemble for a night out. Kate Somerville’s team will be on hand to discuss beauty treatments and luxury mobile beauty service Fiore Beauty will have a Lash Bar and will also be offering hair styling tips, massages and more. Bacara Resort & Spa, Williams-Sonoma, the London West Hollywood, Bella Bridesmaid, Patina Wedding and TravelStore Platinum will line the street to showcase their luxury wedding day goodies while you indulge on cake tastings. There will also be an expert panel to include celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss and owner of Creative Intelligence, Marc Friedland. They will be on hand to discuss wedding trends and event planning with tips and tricks to make your day even more special, like how to align with a philanthropy to help others on the happiest day of your life.
Edgar Zamora of Revelry Event Design will be the creative force behind “Unveiled,” transforming the street into a sophisticated, wedding day wonderland meant to inspire brides to be, families of brides to be and wedding planners alike. It is meant to be a fun, care-free afternoon where ladies (and some men, too) can peruse the street to put together their upcoming vows and celebration. And if you aren’t planning, you can still come, try some cake, and plan your perfect wedding for when Mr. Right does come along to whisk you off of your feet. Or come with your girlfriends to play dress up and learn a thing or two, because we are sure if you haven’t been a bridesmaid yet, your clock is ticking.
Tickets are available at Unveiled, where your Bridal Passport is $30 in advance and $40 on-site. Check-in is at 650 North La Cienega Blvd. in West Hollywood, right at Melrose Place.

Fashion + Art Unite with Prismera Design
By Faith
The Fashion and Art Worlds have always been attached at the hip. Fashion designers are considered “artists” just the same and for Fashion Weeks all across the globe, many collaborate with gallery spaces to showcase their designs.
Laura Su’s roots are based in art, as she graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. Though embarking on Prismera Design, her jewelry and accessories line, painting has always been near and dear to her heart and an inspiration for her collections: “Watercolor is a medium that I’ve loved since art school and painting these lovely girls has allowed me to continue embracing color in a different way while designing my line of jewelry.”
Su has just released her second series of fashion illustration prints comprised of five designs: Scarlet, Cadmium Yellow, Emerald, Cobalt, and Coral. Each is printed on slightly textured 100% cotton rag paper and the inks are professionally archived. The prints come in sizes 5″ x 7″ and 11″ x 14″, as well as sets of three for both sizes. Prices range from $20-$55 and frames are available as well.

Yes, Celebrities Read Too
By Samantha
Celebrities are constantly on the move, whether it be to a fabulous vacation locale or a set in a far-off destination. With all of that travel, it can’t be easy to carry books around, after all, they pack quite a bit of clothing, which is sure to hit the weight capacity on most airlines.
Take a cue from AnnaLynne McCord, who was spotted backstage at the Jill Stuart show during New York Fashion Week with her Nook, Barnes & Noble’s new e-reader. McCord, a self proclaimed tech geek, brings her Nook wherever she goes, even to the hottest fashion soiree in town. High style and educated, this starlet has it all going on, and is sure to never miss out on the latest trends or the latest best-seller.
The Nook retails for $259 at Barnes & Noble.

Maria Grachvogel | LFW
By Kaz Longe
A stones throw, yet a world away from the main fashion week tent, the third show of the day, Maria Grachvogel’s Autumn/Winter 2010 show took place at the Waldorf Hilton. Potted palm trees and a giant skylight were a fitting backdrop to a collection that sought to bring nature to life in clothing. A huge stormy rumble sounded the start of the show and the first few looks were aptly storm-cloud coloured – dark grey, black and navy dresses in satin chiffon were loose and flowing (but retained a slightly severe edge with high cowl necks or sharp shoulders) and high-waisted wool savannah pants looked so comfortable to wear. Out of all the darkness a beautiful scarlet long-sleeved silk crepe gown stood out for all the right reasons, followed by more savannah pants and loose tunics, this time in emerald green and chartreuse.
Perhaps a progression from all the focus on the shoulders last winter, this season there have been lots of capes on the catwalk in London. Grachvogel’s were short, stopping just above the elbow, and either black fur or leather. Elsewhere capelet layers fell from the shoulders of gowns, adding extra femininity.
Where the nature aspect of the collection really came out was in the prints. In the second half of the show the silhouette was maintained (long, fluid and loosely draped) but the clothes were covered in a mottled print reminiscent of mossy rocks or cave walls, varying from jade and sapphire tones to purples and greys. It worked particularly well on the trains of gowns that closed the show – a show that many people were calling one of the best of day one.

Live fabulously, read Majestic Metropolitan Living
By Sophie
Big city life is on the rise, as people flock from the suburbs and into the fast lanes of urban living.
From the food, the people, the fashion and the city-slicker apartment and home lifestyle, the city life is chronicled in Sue Hostetler’s Majestic Metropolitan Living: Visionary Homes in the Heart of Cities (Random House $65).
With photos by Peter Christiansen Valli, the book explores what style visionaries and homeowners alike have done to enhance their city abodes.
Perhaps a bit larger than most urban homes, the people behind these illustrations of home life offer intelligent ways to make your living space just that- yours.
