Sometimes the smallest things in life change our ideas of how we want the rest of our lives to turn. Such is the case with David Merritt, a young man that made his dream come true to play basketball for the University of Michigan. While traveling to an away game, Merritt received a text message that read “IMU” which he realized meant “I Miss You.” From that moment forward Merritt’s life changed. “Our company is built on a premise of generosity and recognizing that our actions affect those around us not only here in the United States but around the world,” said Merritt.
The enjoyment Merritt found from basketball and his ability to see how teamwork functioned, inspired him to launch his company, I Miss You, Inc. (IMU).
IMU is not simply another t-shirt line for men and women, its mission is to spread happiness and social responsibility. Company employees all must commit to 8-10 service hours a month at over 20 various organizations, many of which serve to empower youth in education-based initiatives.
With each shirt bought (with impeccable customer service), IMU seeks to spread their ideals of social responsibility as it asks all of its customers to donate one hour of their time for each t-shirt purchased. If you buy and prove your service with a letter of validation you get a discount on your next t-shirt and become part of the IMU community. The IMU website has a list of organizations that could use extra hands. “IMU is a call to action. To appreciate the people and experiences that make you who you are. And the badge on each shirt will serve to spread the word,” adds Merritt.
T-shirts retail from $25 to $30 (with free shipping now), shop IMU. And, from now through December 10th, POSHGLAM readers will receive an extra 10% off, with the code “POSHGLAM” at checkout.
