After viewing the movie that critics are raving about, I decided it only be suiting that I suggest you see it too. Precious was a remarkable film telling the story of a young teenage girl with two children that were products of incest. The movie was surreal in the sense that many of the characters were believable and charming. Gabourey Sidibe played the HELL out of her role. I found myself identifying with the abstract characters and learning to fall in love with the personification of real life on screen. The breathtaking emotional roller coaster led up to the liberation of Precious who triumphed in the end. I must say the movie left me wondering and wanting to know more. Though it didn’t end with a “TRUE” Happy Ending, I found myself believing the story and rooting for her independence. Mo’nique did a wonderful job playing Precious’ mother and Paula Patton sold me on being a struggling educator with a big heart. I cried, I laughed and I left feeling like another untold story had been played out on the big screen. Isn’t that what movies are about anyway? It broadened my perspective and made me see the world in a different light of empathy and reverence. Cheers to Precious, if you don’t see it, you will wish you had!
