British designer Roksanda Ilincic has finally ventured into the realm of Resort wear with her latest pre-spring collection. Having established a niche in the cocktail and eveningwear market, her first stab at resort (a relatively new endeavor for British designers) seems to have paid off quite well. While resort collections are generally associated with relaxed and effortless clothing, Ilincic’s collection begs to differ. If anything, her designs are polished, highly sophisticated and even couture-like.

Looks for Ilinicic include: draped skirts with ruffles reminiscent of a rosebud, draped toga dresses in liquid jersey and certain pieces that should be coined as fabric origami. Strong shoulder jackets, which are all the rant and rave this season, lend the perfect contrast to the floor length dress. The color palette ranges from pastels of lavender and custard yellow to dark hues of navy and charcoal; hence this collection has universal appeal. The illuminating aspect of the entire selection is Ilincic’s intense use of fabric-play and finishes on the garments. Ilincic has come a long way in mastering the art of finesse and with this collection, certainly broadens her demographic. [Images courtsey of Style.com]
