Help Haiti with Nepali by TDM Design Scarves

By Faith

The horrible earthquake that shook Haiti happened over 6 weeks ago, but the road to recovery will last years. The tragedy has disappeared from the front pages of newspapers and the headlines of CNN, but we cannot forget and must continue to help in anyway that we can.

Nepali by TM Design is donating 25% from their online sales of the Hot Coral Bambi Bobi, Bridgette, and Bree scarf styles to the Red Cross. These scarves have a charitable tale of their own as they are all handmade by local Nepalese artisans. These artisans are given fair wages, healthcare, and education for their children in order to better empower these talented Nepalese women and to break the vicious cycle of poverty in the country.

All of the Bambi Bobi, Bridgette, and Bree styles are made of 100% bamboo and are dyed with eco-friendly dyes. They retail for $95 so they are a perfect investment for your Spring/Summer wardrobes.

Visit www.tdmdesigninc.com for other fun scarf styles.

Jewelry For A Cause | Allison Daniel Designs

By Faith

Here at POSHGLAM, we take giving seriously. The earthquakes in Haiti and Chile have opened all of our eyes to the brevity of human life. Now more than ever, we must cherish what we hold dear and give to those who are less fortunate. No one is exempt from tragedy or hardship so giving when possible is a necessity.

Allison Daniel makes giving chic and easy. She has created three different collections to benefit three different charities. The Hope Collection, featuring the necklace to the right, benefits the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and retails for $49. Proceeds from the Cure Collection go towards The Massachusetts General Diabetes Center with the necklace retailing for $49 and proceeds from the Teal Collection go towards the Lynne Cohen Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research retailing for $98.

Three perfect ways to start off Spring and three perfect gifts with true meaning.

The Story of the Gifting Lounge that Gave Back

By Samantha

During awards season, everyone frequently hears about gifting lounges, which provide the latest and greatest swag to celebrities. The Golden Globes may have passed, but the story of the Madison & Mulholland charity-themed suite is still just as relevant.

This suite provided something a bit new to famous faces. In the suite, celebrities filled up “swag” bags, to be auctioned off for their personal charities. The bags went up for auction on January 25th at Clothes Off Our Back online. One charity that garnered quite a few celebrity bags is Help for Orphans International, which is helping raise money for disaster relief in Haiti.

Held at a private residence in Beverly Hills, celebrities like Evan Handler, Joe Mantegna, Joan Collins and Shar Jackson showed up to fill up their bags with goodies. Each bag included a personalized item from the celebrity as well, from autographed photos to scripts.

Some of the participating vendors were Judith Leiber, Shakers Vodka, Luggage Forward, Verragio Diamonds, Clutch for Cures and Dara Ettinger Jewelry. Hooray for celebs and charities working together.

Cats, Dogs and Elephants, Oh My! Jewels for Charity

By Samantha

Fantasy Jewelry Box is a recessionista-friendly e-commerce site that brings consumers fabulous jewelry for under $200. The site has always been a huge philanthropy supporter, and is now donating 10% of the proceeds of various pieces to several charities.

While many charities are expected to come on board in the new year, two celebrity-endorsed charities for animals are already involved. There are a total of six pieces being sold for these charities, with the retail prices between $19.95 and $71.95. A great jewelry find and a buy that supports charity is a win/win for people and their furry friends.

The Lange Foundation, one of Oprah’s favorite charities, saves impounded animals such as dogs and cats in hopes of finding them a new home with loving owners. Purchase one of three adorable jewels to help these beloved animals find a home: a crystal paw-print pin, a sterling silver charm bracelet with dog-shaped dangles and a sterling silver dog pendant necklace.

The Elephant Sanctuary is a Tennessee-based, non-profit sanctuary that supports a 2,700 acre piece of land in order to house endangered Asian and African elephants. The sanctuary provides a loving, safe and stable home for abused and/or neglected elephants, with many of them coming from the circus. Cameron Diaz is a fan of the organization, as she campaigned for Flora the elephant to be sent to the sanctuary. Support these large yet loving animals by purchasing an elephant embossed ring, bracelet or pendant necklace.

To shop and view the rest of the items, visit Fantasy Jewelry Box.

For more information about the charities, visit The Lange Foundation and The Elephant Sanctuary.

Versace and Art Unites – Tote Bags for Charity

By Faith

Versace Charitable Tote Hearts Versace is now not only a forerunner in fashion, but in the charitable world as well. They have collaborated with the Whitney Museum of Art and the Starlight Foundation and have launched Art Unites. 500 children from Starlight Children’s Foundation and 900 from the One Foundation were given art supplies and canvas to create original drawings centered around the theme of friendship. Versace then formed them into one-of-a-kind canvas totes.

The totes are limited edition with all of the proceeds going to the Starlight Foundation and the One Foundation.

“I have been blessed with incredible success in my life,” says Donatella.  “And part of that success means being able to give back to people in need.  As a mother, children’s causes are especially close to my heart, and I am honored to be able to work with The Whitney on the creation of a program that inspires children through the arts.  Both Starlight and the One Foundation provide critical support for children and their families, and I look forward to our ongoing partnership.”

The Starlight Children’s Foundation benefits children with serious illnesses and gives them and their families support. They have outpatient, hospital-based and Web programs for children and families all over the United States and Canada and some programs are also available internationally in Australia, the UK, and Japan. The One Foundation was founded by Jet Li along with the Red Cross Society of China and provides relief efforts after the earthquake in China’s Sichuan province.

Sales of the totes start today on Gilt.com as well as at Versace boutiques worldwide. The bags retail at $250. Do not miss this great opportunity to make a fashion statement in more ways than one.
