Beauty and the Beach: Cynthia Rowley for Roxy

By Jessica

When the sun is shining, the temperature’s high and the waves are rising, there’s only one thing left to do:  hit the beach in style. For the ultimate in beach chic, look no further than Cynthia Rowley’s new collection for Roxy.

Debuting this Spring, the line of sportswear, swim, accessories and shoes is as wallet-friendly as it is beach-ready, ranging from $14 to $225. One glance, however, at the colorblocked dress’ flawless construction and immaculate lines and it’s clear that Rowley does not sacrifice quality for affordability.

The collection is designed to cater to the carefree lifestyle of ladies who take the summer by storm. Pack everything, from an oversized hoodie to gingham wedges, conveniently in the duffle bag and set out on your next adventure.

Through her modern use of colorblocking and cut-outs, Rowley captures the easy, breezy beach culture with an air of sophistication and refinement. Each garment reflects the serenity of a summer day filled with sand and sun: “The most important things as a designer is to tell a story, and everything we do contributes to the story,” Rowley explains. “This is an authentic and genuine expression of that, as surfing is something I love to do.”

The collaboration launches at Barney’s New York and Colette in Paris in April 2010. For more information, visit Cynthia Rowley.

New York style, by Heather Williams

By Sophie

Add some sexy flair to your footwear this year with designer Heather Williams‘ Spring 2010 collection. Drawing inspiration from a New Yorker’s life, Williams based her lasted designs off of popular landmarks in the Big Apple.

Splitting her time between New York and Milan, Williams embraces her surroundings fully. With her Spring collection, the designs are New York-inspired but are made with Italian leathers.

“I’ve been living a ‘double life’ in Milan and New York,” Williams said. “…And I’m always inspired by the environments that I live in… Translated to footwear, the new designs let the foot take center stage for a strong and sexy style.”

The architecturally savvy shoes are structured and edgy. The “Gaia” shoe ($740)  wraps the foot in sexy straps, while the blue-black “Jesse” shoe ($970) gives a tough leather-bound and snakeskin look.

Also great is the “Summit” ($715), which has a softer look and is perfect to pair with a khaki or jeans and a blazer.

And the Award for Delectable Arm Candy Goes to…Christian Louboutin

By Jessica

With the film adaptation of the Tony award-winning musical, “Nine,” getting Oscar buzz, it’s fitting that one of the movie’s stars, Marion Cotillard, wears equally winning accessories.

With supple leather material, silver studs and a chain wrist handle, the Lolita clutch by Christian Louboutin brings new meaning to the word, “Star-Studded.” Its intricately beautiful assortment of studs dazzle against the French actress’ asymmetric Elie Saab dress and stunning Christian Dior stilettos.

With sparkling, resplendent embellishments and the elegant ‘Christian Louboutin’ logo, the Lolita Studded clutch is more red carpet than rock-and-roll. The dazzling bag is the latest work of art from Christian Louboutin’s collection to grace the red carpet—and with its glittering adornments, it’s more than deserving of the Paparazzi spotlight.

And as any fashion lover knows, if there was a real award show for brilliant accessories, Christian Louboutin would be a “shoe-in.” One of many gems from Louboutin’s latest collection, the Lolita Studs clutch is available in black/silver and cream/gold and retails for $1,195. For more information, visit Christian Louboutin.

Gemela Amor: Sunglasses for Your Inner Rockstar

By Jessica

Sunglasses are the fashion accessory most commonly associated with being bad-ass. However, not since the advent of Gemela Amor by coco&breezy has that correlation been more apropos.

The popular line of sunglasses epitomizes cool with designs made for rule-breaking, shit-talking tough girls—and the not-so-tough girls who don’t want to look like they ran from bullies in high school. Futuristic arrangements of studs, spikes and even chains flank the sides and front of the shades, giving them a hard, urban edge that could make Ugly Betty a rockstar.

Ironically, the designers behind sunglasses fit for the coolest kid in school grew up as outcasts in their hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Coco and Breezy, 19 year-old identical twins, wore shades to block themselves from taunting classmates. Once they designed a custom-made collection of eyewear and named it for their bond (“Gemela” means twins and “Amor “ signifies love), the twins became overnight celebrities.

Since the twins set their sights on the fashion industry and bravely moved to New York City, they have enjoyed a whirlwind of fame and success. Gemela Amor sunglasses are a favorite of fashion stylists and tastemakers, and have been worn by celebrities like Amber Rose, Kelly Osbourne and Vanessa Simmons.

For more information and to shop the collection, visit Coco & Breezy.

Violence Meets Vamp with Charles Albert Fine Jewelry

By Jessica

If fashion has one message this season, it’s that pretty is, well, boring. With celebrities like Pink and Rihanna embracing grit over glamour, designs that were previously charming and demure have taken a dangerously aggressive turn. Jewelry is no exception.

The up-and-coming fine jewelry brand, Charles Albert, boasts a lust-worthy collection of necklaces, cuffs, rings and bracelets with brazen, uninhibited edge. Meticulously handcrafted in .950 sterling silver, the opulent, one-of-a-kind pieces offer a novel take on the tough luxe trend du jour.

A favorite of celebs and magazine editors, Charles Albert’s edgy pieces are reminiscent of Uma Thurman’s character in Kill Bill, intimidating yet captivating at the same time. Add a dose of danger to your wardrobe with Charles Albert’s menacing jewels—and the sharp edges will come in handy when someone’s in need of an ass-kicking.

Visit Charles Albert to shop the collection.

Insanely Modern Junk

By Samantha

Junker, is an LA based brand known for its insane, one-of-a-kind, custom pieces. Starting out from what some may refer to as “dumpster diving,” designers, Tod and Guiliana, began to manipulate fabrics such as denim and leather, using paints and dye processing.

Lenny Kravitz was actually the first to buy a vest that Tod made when he moved from Houston to L.A., and that was the beginning of Junker. From there Tod met Guiliana and they began to collaborate on pieces together. These team efforts brought forth the stream of celebrity fans: Steven Tyler, Britney Spears, and Johnny Depp, to name a few.

Junker continues to customize its looks with an edge to fit its audience including some the biggest rockers. Tod and Guiliana are the”God’s” of handmade rock n’ roll royalty couture.

Junker is sold at Chic Little Devil in Los Angeles and worldwide online at www.chiclittledevil.com.
