Fred Segal Goes Green and Gives Back
By Samantha

Fred Segal in Santa Monica is hosting a fabulous sustainable shopping event this Thursday, December 3rd from 7-10PM benefiting Toys for Tots called “Gifts Giving Back”. The event will be hosted by celebrity Rachael Leigh Cook, with mini makeovers provided by Tarte Cosmetics and music by Solar DJ Ref Brown. Shoppers will be able to purchase fabulous eco-friendly items from Greenbees, Love Heals, Linda Loudermilk, Solas and Be Sweet. While shopping, everyone can enjoy fantastic eats by O! Burger, Cream by Crystal and Border Grill Truck and drinks from 360 Vodka Cambazon, Eel River Brewing Company, Parducci Wine and O.N.E. The event has two goals: to keep people aware of and shopping for eco-friendly products and to collect a large amount of donations for Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots is a non-profit organization that gives gifts to impoverished children that may not be able to open gifts for the holidays. Entrance to the event is simple. The suggested donation is one new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or over. You must pre-register to attend the event by emailing GiftsGivingBack@gmail.com by the end of day on December 2nd.
The event is being held at Fred Segal at 420 & 500 Broadway in Santa Monica. So head on over, eat a little, drink a little, shop a lot and donate to a fabulous cause this week.

True Birds Accessories
By Faith
In these economic times where one feels guilty about making big purchases, nothing satisfies that shopping bug more than a beautiful accessory for a great price. True Birds accessories do just that. They make you feel flirty and fun while helping you to stay on budget.
The Palmer sisters started True Birds in early 2008. They made frequent visits to the L.A. Fashion District and were inspired by everything they laid their eyes on and from there they began designing hair accessories from pearls, trim, and vintage buttons. That hobby then turned into a full-fledged line.
Though the road was rough at first, the Palmer Sisters achieved their dream of being sold in Nordstrom and are now sold in 106 of the department store’s locations. They are also sold at Fred Segal, Henri Bendel, and many others. Their pieces have been featured in Lucky and Seventeen just to name a few.
True Birds accessories are an amazing way to enhance your wardrobe and are perfect ideas for Halloween and all of the parties sure to come with the Holiday season approaching. More pieces from the line below.

On the Rise: Candela NYC
By Michelle
Five short years ago Natalia Kuks-Jacobs and Gabriela Perezutti-Isacson channeled their South American ranching backgrounds into fashion design. The style is a breed of sexy country girl with smart city girl and exudes a confident attitude. The collection is comprised of leathers, chunky knits, cotton voiles, silks and embroideries with feminine details such as bows, ruffles and lace. The Candela NYC line also introduced a shoe collection in 2006, and thus far has been a raging success.
In the works for Candela NYC, an e-commerce store and eventually their very own boutique, so keep a look out for these style queens, as they have expansion on the horizon. Currently their apparel can be found at Fred Segal, Henri Bendel, Intermix, Kitson, Saks Fifth Avenue, Scoop, ShopBop, Urban Outfitters and many more. You may have also seen their designs on celebrity fans, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Hudson, Fergie or Ciara. To keep Candela NYC on your radar, check them out at CandelaNYC.com
