Beauty on A Budget | H&M does Skincare

With H&M, the sky’s the limit. The mega-brand has just announced their new organic skincare line launching in March. This comes on the heels of the announcement of their Garden Collection, which features pieces all made from sustainable materials.

“It felt like a natural step, since we’ve worked with organic cotton garments for a few seasons now. There’s also a strong demand from our customers for organics, and I hope they will be as excited as I am about the new products.” – Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design

The line is centered around everyday beauty essentials and includes body scrub, shower gel, body lotion, hand cream and lip balm in sweet-smelling combinations of raspberry and melon and a cool lavender and mint. Organic apple juice and apricot seeds are key ingredients as well as jojoba and beeswax in the lip balm. A make-up bag and toilet bag are also featured in organic cotton. All products are sold in recyclable packaging and are certified by Ecocert, Europe’s largest body of certification for organic cosmetics.

Prices for the collection range from $4.95 to $7.95. Who says going green has to break the bank?

LUXE VS. MUST: Sonia Rykiel’s Pre-Fall Collection and Sonia Rykiel pour H&M

To the dismay of die-hard fashionistas, winter’s freezing temperatures call for clothing that keeps you warm but prevents you from looking cool. Leave it to the Queen of Parisian chic, Sonia Rykiel, to turn that stereotype on its head in both her latest collections.

Sonia Rykiel’s fabu-LUXE Pre-Fall collection renders a symphony of emboldened designs in unexpected hues like soft pink and fire-engine red. Her line of well-fitting suits, sheath dresses, structured pants and even overalls is defined by a lively yet decidedly feminine mystique.

Ruffles dance around the neckline of knit blouses, offering a quaint, ladylike touch while multicolor art nouveau prints energize the front of a black sweater dress. Accessories like cowboy hats and leather gloves add a touch of glamour and new-school sophistication.

In her MUST-have knit collection for H&M, Rykiel infuses each knitwear piece with verve, energy and attitude. Her spirited designs range from a pair of oversized overalls, worn with an off-the-shoulder striped shirt, to a rainbow-hued striped sweater dress that renders a cacophony of color.

The modern collection, designed for women and girls 1.5 to 8 years old, is brimming with imaginative styles like studded berets and shirts with cool graphic designs.

Sonia Rykiel pour H&M will be available in Sonia Rykiel boutiques and H&M stores on February 20, 2010.

Far from Your Grandmother’s Tea Party: H&M’s Garden Collection

Oh H&M how we love thee. Let us count the ways…

With wintry temperatures setting in, H&M gives us something to look forward to with their Garden Collection. The pieces are bright, fun, and perfect for all the summer loves you are planning to attract.

Inspired by the 70’s hippie chic movement, the collection shows the romantic side of going green with all of the pieces being made from sustainable materials such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, and tencel. The collection is hot, but it won’t heat up your pockets with everything retailing for $60 and under.

The dress on the left is only $20. Kind of astonishing isn’t it?

Look out for the Garden Collection in H&M stores worldwide in the months to come.

POSHGLAM’s Best Dressed at The People’s Choice Awards

The 2010 People’s Choice Awards just ended, and the fashion’s were as fabulous as the event. From cocktail attire to ballgowns, sexy to conservative, starlets made a glamorous statement.

Country-cutie Taylor Swift was the picture of perfection in her “winter white” ensemble, with just enough shimmer in her Jenny Packham dress, Neil Lane earrings and bracelet, Odette ring and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger wowed the crowd in her curve hugging David Meister dress and Loree Rodkin jewels.

The other country darling Carrie Underwood went for a more edgy look, and it was definitely a winning one. The singer paired her stunning Christian Cota frock with Rock and Republic “Paulina” heels, a Lauren Merkin clutch and jewelry by Johnathan Arndt.

Always classic and chic, Taraji P. Henson did not disappoint in her vintage-inspired Alberta Ferretti gown and dazzling, ornate jewelry.

Young Disney sensation Demi Lovato looked age appropriate, and absolutely charming in her Jenny Packham dress, Rene Caovilla dress and clutch and Carrera y Carrera and Le Vian baubles.

We have to give major credit to fashion maven Diane Kruger. The actress paired her Herve Leger number with accessories from none other than H&M, a recessionista after our own hearts.

Kate Walsh was glittering perfection from head to toe in her Sarni Vintage Dress from Decades (that she picked up earlier that day) and some pretty fierce Casadei Signature Triple Platform Pumps.

Fashion chameleon Olivia Wilde tried out a new look in her Monique Lhullier dress and Fleurette jewels, and I am definitely a fan.

A-list movie star Nicole Kidman sat by her man and looked charming, elegant and edgy in her L’Wren Scott pant-suit, Jimmy Choo heels and her own jewelry. And a quick shout-out has to be given to classic comedian Cloris Leachman, who showed up smiling in style despite her injury. Love! So many celebrities graced the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards, and these are POSHGLAM’s favorite looks from the night. But the month of awards shows has just begun, so stay tuned for more glamorous fashion.
