Big Ideas Come From Little Rooms
By Samantha
Little Rooms is a beautifully inventive jewelry line with the charm lying in the details of each piece. For her latest collection, Thornwall, designer Esther Delug was inspired by cities, homes and nostalgic comforts from her childhood, such as dollhouses, which the designer is obsessed with. Thornwall 84 was once a calling code for Los Angeles, from the 1950s when there were telephone exchange names, and making phone calls was a whole lot different. With this in mind, Delug created a collection that is reminiscent of the rise of metropolitan living.
Beginning her career as a makeup artist, the native Angeleno honed her creative skills to create a jewelry line that ties together past and present effortlessly with pieces that have a vintage look with a modern message.
The Thornwall Collection features earthquakes through seismic waves, the antiquated method of showcasing music through
radios and cityscapes along with houses, bridges and typical home furnishings. The city and the music around her are the fundamental basics behind this complete collection. Delug is a perfectionist when making miniatures come to life, as she creates a lifestyle within each piece and makes the quirky and creative both refined and sophisticated. Little Rooms is whimsical, and appeals to shopper’s curiosities, as they seek to find the meaning within each ingenious and innovative piece. From the all encompassing city life and the music that surrounds us, Delug’s “Thornwall” collection takes us back to a more simplistic life and then jolts us right back to the modern world and all of its chaotic beauty.
