Trash and Luxury at Fred Segal Flair

By Leah

image 1Walking into Trash and Luxury’s event at Fred Segal Flair in Los Angeles, I get flashbacks of timeless pieces of the couture designers (think Coco Chanel) we still revere today. Trash and Luxury designer, Hushi Mortezaie, takes old alluring couture items and makes them wearable in the modern world with his brilliant design aesthetic. As the champagne was flowing and the DJ was playing, Mortezaie swept guests off their feet with his charm and detailed account of the love that actually goes into his work. Exclusively, Mortezaie transforms images from vintage covers of Harper’s Bazaar to create modern clothes for the POSHGLAMers of today who want chic and edgy renditions of old glamour.

At the event were Trash and Luxury shirts adorned with a message which Mortezaie explained as inspirational pieces that are more than clothes to him, they are art and art always carries a message. The name, Trash and Luxury, represents a beautiful contradiction celebrating a twist on original couture clothing.

T-shirts pictured: Attack Model Three Tierred Sleeve ($44), Superbe Dolman Cuff ($49) and Le Chat Rollup Cuff  ($55).
