Building the perfect heel
By Zoe
There’s nothing more iconic to the New York City skyline than the Empire State Building. It’s presence. It’s architecture. And now–the pump.
Italian design house GEOX unveiled the heel, aptly named the Empire State Building Shoe at Milan Fashion Week. The five inch heel was crafted to replicate the building, and looks way bold in gold and silver.
The heel is covered with rhinestones and the line includes a closed and opened toe style in a bold palette of patterns, finishes and colors. GEOX always boasts comfort in their shoes with lightweight, waterproof. The company has placed an emphasis on its exclusive breathable technology which allows feet to breathe via a patented membrane placed in the perforated rubber sole
Cool.
And real soon, GEOX will soon re-open its Toronto Yorkdale flagship store that’ll house its largest children’s section in the world.

Bottega Veneta Spring 2010
By Faith
Bottega Veneta’s Spring 2010 Collection was a study in simplicity, color, and expert tailoring. Tomas Maier stuck to the brand’s DNA and produced a collection fit for Spring on the Italian Riviera.
The collection played with many types of silhouettes with the overall unifying factor being the easiness and complete wearability of the clothing. Dresses appeared in many different forms from sheaths to shirtdresses to amazingly colorful floor-sweeping ball gowns. Pants were also shown mostly at capri length, though shorts were present in comfortable lengths in contrast to the hot pants that have been the trend in other collections.
The color palette was mostly based in creams and neutrals allowing the bright accents and accessories to pop. Color crept through in the amazing array of accessories that Bottega is always known for: exotic skin handbags, raffia wedges, and so much more. When the color appeared, it was vibrant in bright shades of yellow, purple, electric blue, hot pink, coral, and emerald green. Jewelry was also a highlight of the collection showcasing pieces with ornate silver and mixed media which gave an elegance and refinement to the collection and presented an interesting juxtaposition against the carefree clothing.
For beauty, the models had invisible eyebrows, perfectly finished faces, and mauve lips which screamed youth. Hair was swept back away from the face with white headbands and in messy buns contributing to the easy feeling of the collection.
Bottega Veneta’s Spring 2010 Collection is for the carefree woman who is not afraid to live on the bright side of life. More highlights from the collection below (courtesy of Style.com).

Milan Fashion Week: Gucci Spring 2010 Ready To Wear
By Leah
This past Friday, Frieda Giannini displayed her Gucci collection with panache and a twist …that is to say many of the looks were in white. Of the colors that popped there were vibrant and vivid fuschias, turquoises and burnt oranges. The silhouettes were uber skinny with an overall vibe of super slick chic attire. Sharply tailored and hemmed dresses paired with lust-worthy laced boots, all very racy and sultry. Everywhere you looked there were cutouts and beads all with cleverly constructed ties and cords, very a la Matthew Williamson.
Jackets ruled at the show with blazers coming out on top proving they truly are the most versatile piece to invest in this season. Leather was briefly spotted and paperbag, a high-waisted pant, was present. The accessories gleamed in full splendor; eyewear was incredibly fierce, the bags were highly desirable, and shoes were sky high …utterly drop dead gorgeous.

Gucci is a remarkable label, like that of Louis Vuitton, who’s actually managed a profit through the recession. The Gucci girl of this season demands all eyes on her. She doesn’t care much for tradition and shuns discretion …she reeks the “rich girl” look, certainly attire that is money well spent.
All in all, Frieda Giannini’s Gucci show was fantastic.
