Lunch With a Fashion Friend: Jerell Scott
By Samantha
POSHGLAMer Jae recently paid a visit to a great friend of his, Jerell Scott, an L.A. based designer, and a Season 5 contestant on Project Runway. He and Jae sat back to recap on the season’s events during L.A. Fashion Week. Jerell was quite the busy fellow, with a runway presentation held at The Museum Of Contemporary Art (MOCA), an art installation at One Take Studios which featured a live performance by Macy Gray and he ended the week with a finale show alongside Project Runway’s Korto Momolu. They conversed on the highlighted moments as well as the raised eyebrows. Jae spoke highly of his admiration of Jerell’s influences from indigineous cultures, with a collection boasting with tribal prints and studded embellishments. Jerell gave Jae a peek at what he is up to next. He says he is gunning for that Hollywood young starlet, not to mention Katy Perry was seen prancing about town in one of his coveted designs recently. It was such a great visit, and everyone at POSHGLAM and fashionistas everywhere are excited to see what Jerell has planned for Fashion Week in 2010. Jerell Scott Designs is currently sold at H. Lorenzo.

Fluxus at Brentwood Gardens
By Michelle
The Fluxus brand was launched in 2006 by Martin Paquette and is Los Angeles-based and produced. Its look is inspired by the experimental Fluxus art movement of the 1960’s and is best known for basic layering and soft knit pieces. The label may also sound familiar as it is carried at high-end retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, H. Lorenzo and Fred Segal.
In the past three years Fluxus has seen a whirlwind of success and has made some important additions this year. This past Spring a flagship store was opened in Larchmont, Project Runway Season 3 winner Jeffery Sebelia was brought on as Head Designer and most recently Fluxus opened a second location at Brentwood Gardens. This newest location will carry the highly anticipated Capsule Collection from Sebelia with exclusive couture pieces, along with other men’s and women’s styles.
On Saturday, November 14th a party at the Brentwood Gardens location will mark the official opening of the store. In light of the opening, 25% off will be given from 1pm to 4pm on both men’s and women’s merchandise. Although most items are under $100, prices range from $40 to $200 and the exclusive Jeffrey Sebelia for Fluxus Capsule Collection retails between $66 and $300. Project Runway Season 6 Premiere
By Jamie
On August 20th, FIDM, Provencho Restaurant and Remedy Lounge hosted Project Runway’s Season 6 Premiere. Celebrities, designers, fashionistas, and fashion lovers gathered in the posh digs of downtown to catch a screening of everyone’s favorite design show. The seamless reality series kicked off with 16 eager designers ready to show their talent off to the world. Despite the leap from Bravo to its new home on Lifetime, there were no major differences in the show aside from it now being show in Los Angeles. After the premiere, patrons celebrated at the VIP after party and reception featuring DJ Mark Lewis.
Celebrities in attendance included Gillis Marini, Julia Anderson, and Tanjareen Martin. Fashion designer, David Alexander, was also at the event. Alexander, who has dressed stars like Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears, arrived with his model Laura LaRue in a gold structured dress with a cut out back from his collection. Simply gorgeous.
Much of the evening’s charm came shining through the edgy ensembles worn by guests. Walking down the hall, you would have thought Heidi Klum and Michael Kors were sitting off to the side commenting on their notecards. In case you missed the show, Lindsay Lohan made a surprise appearance as a guest judge. For their first challenge, designers were to create a look for a red carpet event that showed off a personal point of view and innovation. As always, there were hits and some major misses. Either way, we’re excited to watch the ins and outs of fashion drama as it unfolds in this next season. In true Tim Gunn style: Make it work Project Runway.
You can catch the show every Thursday at 10 et/pt.
