Celebrities are forever making their mark on fashion, and Pastry is sure to be one of those great footwear brands from some well-known girls.
Angela and Vanessa Simmons—daughters of legendary hip-hop artist and pioneer Rev. Run of Run DMC and the stars of the hit MTV Reality Shows “Run’s House” and “Daddy’s Girls” are offering a footwear line that’s affordable, trendy and well constructed. And to add, they also happen to be the nieces of media and fashion mogul Russell Simmons.
According to the sisters Angela and Vanessa, the shoes are designed to be “Sweet Chic Unique”; a hip, modern line that reflects their fun, funky yet flirty style with sneakers, eyewear, girlie ballet flats and high top wedges.
The girls also showcase a casual clothing line with hoodies, leggings and cute fitted tops. They even have deliciously colored shoes for kids. The two maintain a blog on their site, so you can check out what’s going in the world of design and what new items are hot on the shelves.

Evelyn Huang, designer of EvelynH. Jewelry is definitely taking off full speed, and garnering notice from some extremely high profile politicians and celebrities alike. Recently, a pair of her beautiful earrings, the “Africa’s Hope Diamond Drop,” won the 2009 Women’s Jewelry Association DIVA Award. The earrings feature 3.54 karats in African emeralds, 4.89 karats of colorless diamonds and are set in 18 karat white gold. They are valued at over $19,000. Evelyn used these emeralds in the earrings because the color green not only represents hope, but is also the color of one of Earth’s natural resources, and is her signature color. The teardrop design is meant to resemble an Angel’s harp, which is the emblem of the D.E.F.’s Africa’s Angels. It was these earrings that she auctioned off at the Diamond Empowerment Fund’s annual “Dallas Rock” gala. D.E.F. is an international, non-profit organization supporting education, which serves to empower disadvantaged, impoverished children in African nations where diamonds are a major resource.
At the gala, the earrings were an item to watch for potential bidders for their beauty and their ties to the D.E.F. However, things only got better for Evelyn Huang when Russell Simmons, media mogul, entrepreneur and D.E.F. Founder, was the winning bidder for the earrings, and immediately gifted them to Barbara Bush, who was one of the people being honored at the high profile event for her extensive work with the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Capetown, South Africa. Russell Simmons showed again his charitable spirit, true passion for his charity and interest in design with this bid, and the generous gift that he made of it. With such great passion behind her work, Evelyn Huang is a jewelry designer that is flying above the radar.
