Lara Bohinc Expands Collection to Shoes, Women Rejoice
By Samantha
Lara Bohinc has long been a leader in European based leather luxury goods. Now, in a downtrodden economy, she decided to give women what they want most: fabulous shoes.
For Spring/Summer 2010, Bohinc created two shoe collections named Eclipse and Seventh Seal, inspired by her jewelry and handbag collections of the same name. The launch of footwear has culminated the expansion of Lara Bohinc’s luxury leather goods offerings.
The shoes are exquisite, designed to provide the perfect finale to any glam outfit. Lara Bohinc’s footwear collections are ideal for shoe addicts that rejoice in creating trends, and wearing something new.
The Eclipse collection consists of three styles, which were all inspired by the designer’s Lunar Eclipse Bag. These shoes have a unique aesthetic in their curved architecture juxtaposed with straight linear design. The shoes are available in python, goat leather, patent leather and suede. They are available in a variety of colors, which are all luxe yet subdued.
The After the Seventh Seal shoe collection encompasses two styles: both a platform and a serious rocker edge. Both styles are available in black goat with brass chains with a sandal and bootie version.
The shoes in Bohinc’s collections are the definition of elegance meeting edge. Each has a fashion forward, of-the-minute look, but remains totally classic.
The prices of the shoes range from $700 to $1,050, which is steep for the times but worth the investment. They are currently available exclusively at Harvey Nichols’ locations and will hit stores worldwide in May 2010.

Giveaway | Holiday Gift Guide: SoleMates
By Samantha

For any of you looking for a “sole” mate for the holidays, look no further than SoleMates, which are sure to get your feet through the season with minimal pain. The holidays are full of sexy high heels, and SoleMates works discretely and easily as it attaches to most stiletto and kitten heels. By increasing the surface area on the base of the heel, it reduces the pressure on this area and prevents the heel from sinking into grass or falling into cracks: two fashion faux pas that everyone wants to stay away from when they are all dressed up.
Created by Becca Brown and Monica Murphy, colleagues at Goldman Sachs and classmates at Columbia Business School, SoleMates High Heeler is a patented design to solve the fashion nightmare of uncomfortable shoes on difficult surfaces. They are mechanically engineered to fit snugly on most heels and the flexible material grips securely without causing any damage to your favorite shoes. So take your real SoleMate out this holiday season.

Live “La Dolce Vita” with Mechante of London
By Samantha

Mechante of London footwear is a true testament to classic Italian craftsmanship with a fashion forward edge and attention to both comfort and detail. Designer Deborah Lyons was inspired for her Spring/Summer 2010 collection by the glamour of the 1960s and 70s images of Italian summers and the cult classic James Bond movies. The “Bond” girls inspired Lyons to create a collection that was sexy, sophisticated, elegant and a bit dangerous. Each shoe in this collection is named after a “Bond” girl.
Lyons played with architecture and fabrics in this collection, with seductive cutouts, exotic snakeskins and captivating colors with exciting two-toned shoes. Deborah lives in London and the shoes are made in Italy where Lyons works with the finest artisans, as she is a true
believer of shoes being the art for the foot.
After studying fine art in London, Florence and Paris, Lyons continued on to Parsons, where she studied fashion design. At the young age of 25, her line, Mechante of London was born. “Mechante” in French means “naughty” and each shoe has a hint of a naughty girl with a cover of a classically feminine beauty. Her youthful essence combined with her knowledge of what women want has allowed Lyons to create a collection that is both boldly feminine and subtly seductive. This “Bond Girl” inspired collection is full of timeless beauties that Deborah Lyons has been able to capture through skilled design, glamorous color choices and luxurious textiles all complimenting the strongly fierce yet stunningly feminine woman. Fans of the line include Isla Fisher, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Blake Lively and Agyness Deyn, to name a few.
Mechante of London is available stateside at Diavolina and various retailers internationally. Visit Mechante of London for more information.

By Faith
Any shoe aficionado loves and adores Mr. Manolo Blahnik. He is truly one of the most powerful people in the fashion industry today.
Manolo Blahnik is a pioneer in the footwear industry. He started making shoes in London in 1971 after he was given the push to do so by Diana Vreeland (then editor-in-chief of American Vogue). Ossie Clark was the first designer to use his designs and in 1973, Blahnik opened his first boutique in London’s Chelsea neighborhood.
Blahnik has been bestowed with countless awards from the CFDA and La Medalla de Oro en Merito en las Bellas Artes from his native Spain. We know him best today from the shoes he designed for Sofia Coppola’s, Marie Antoinette, and countless references to his pieces from Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City.
His Spring 2010 Collection pieces are truly works of art channeling inspiration from Hollywood starlets in the 1950s. The style to the right is named Dos: “This style was inspired by windows. I like to play with shapes you see everyday. Many things inspire me.”
These pieces are sure to be seen on today’s starlets and it girls in the coming months. More pieces from the Spring 2010 Collection below (Images and quote courtesy of Vogue UK).
