Edward Beiner: Fun In The Sun

By Samantha

Since the 1980s, Edward Beiner has created eyewear coveted by some of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities from Jennifer Lopez and Heidi Klum to Alicia Keys and Lindsay Lohan. Beiner creates both regular and prescription shades, constantly offering something new and timeless to his famous clientele. The sunnies are classic yet possess a “cool” vibe that has everyone raving. The stylish shades are a hit among those fortunate enough to live in sunny South Florida, where the designer has seven locations.

Beiner knows that great sunglasses can’t just be chic, they also have to be practical and useful. He uses Eye Point Technology which stimulates the human eye and recreates perfect vision, meaning that only the most technologically-advanced lenses are used in his products.

Living in Miami, Beiner draws inspiration from the sunny skies that frequent Florida. Being a Brazilian native, the sun is no stranger to the designer. In a time when people were solely wearing sunglasses for corrective reasons, Beiner capitalized on their accessorizing capabilities and made his glasses fashion staples. The designer works with only the most skilled factories and artisans and the best materials in creating his dramatic, yet totally wearable eyewear. Upon looking at the collection, you can immediately draw in the Miami Art Deco lifestyle paired with classic elegance.

In a rough economy, Beiner’s collection is consistently growing, thanks to his true passion and niche in the eyewear industry. His stores offer his own collection alongside the likes of Chanel, Chrome Hearts and Cartier. It may still be winter, but Edward Beiner is making us long for the summer sun.

The Olsens to Launch Eyewear from The Row

By Faith

the-row-sun-glasses1Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have taken the fashion world by storm not only for their distinct personal style, but also for their fashion lines, Elizabeth James and The Row. The Olsens have recently leaped into the accessories business with jewelry and footwear for Elizabeth and James, and now they are launching their first line of eyewear for their high-end line, The Row.

The Row eyewear line will be launched in partnership with Linda Farrow eyewear. Linda Farrow is an acclaimed London-based eyewear designer and she is one of the first to have treated sunglasses as a necessary component of fashion. She is responsible for Yoko Ono’s signature looks in the 1970s and today her vintage designs are seen on the likes of Kate Moss, Kanye West, and Madonna. Linda Farrow lists Dries van Noten, Luella, and Matthew Williamson as famed designers with whom she has collaborated.

The line will feature four styles: a classic and simple aviator, a round-framed pair (a style that Mary-Kate and Ashley have been known to sport), a square-framed pair, and a pair of vintage-inspired brow-line rims. Pieces from The Row eyewear line will retail from $325-$390 and will be sold in Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman, where The Row ready-to-wear line is currently sold. No release date has been set, but stay tuned to POSHGLAM for further news. (Images courtesy of WWD)

The Latest Eye on Fashion with Boucheron

By Zoe

BES106-01POSHGLAM girls always keep an eye on fashion, and what better way than with the luxurious eyewear collection from French jewellery, watch and perfume makers Boucheron and their collaboration with Gold & Wood.

For their new frames, Gold & Wood uses a panoply of precious woods from ebony, bubinga and Tanganyika. Sculpted totally in the Boucheron house, two of the frames in the Boucheron Plume de Paon line arrive in 5-micron gold plated versions. When gold becomes adorned with crystals or precious stones, the frames’ shapes light up and that magically evokes Boucheron’s style.

Boucheron has developed shapes and forms of sculptured fusion, weightless levitation, rounded gadroons or daring feathers. The jewellery house’s themes are portrayed in four new lines: Fusion, Ava, Froufrou and Plume de Paon.

The eyewear collection is available now, and the solar collection is slated for availability in March 2010—just in time for Spring.

Pricing for the new styles ranges between 400 euros and 950 euros, for more information visit: Gold-and-wood.com.

Bedazzle Queen: Kerin Rose

By Michelle

a morir 1The “overnight success” usually falls under the category of Urban Legend but POSHGLAM has actually located one— sunglass and accessory designer Kerin Rose with her line, A-Morir. Founded in the winter of 2008 when she bought crystals to bedazzle a new iPhone but instead decided to intricately decorate a pair of new sunglasses… just for fun.

After being ogled for her sunglasses on the streets of New York City, she decided it would be worth her while to make more. All pieces are made by hand and feature between 400 and 600 crystals. Rose began her line with a small collection of four styles and a handful of headpieces and necklaces. Shortly thereafter A-Morir pieces were featured in the New York Post, Missbehave Magazine, New York Observer, The Fashion Week Daily blog, Urban Outfitters blog and many more. Rihanna also recently wore a pair of A-Morir Barracuda sunglasses in her video “Run This Town” and other celebs such as Katy Perry and Jazmine Sullivan have been seen about town in them. A-Morir can be purchased at the following stores, Patricia Field in NYC and Down At Lulus in Oakland, CA or online at a-morir.com

There are giant numbers to help you get your Lady GaGa on, ‘80s-era Wayfarers for a fun retro kick, and, my favorite, old-school circle sunnies which would be the perfect complement to a vintage one-piece swimsuit and a giant sun hat. In addition to new and vintage glam-rock gal apparel and shoes (including Jeffrey Campbell cage heels, in case you’re interested), the site also stocks vintage specs for gals who fancy playing brainy bombshell for the day. You know you want to…
