When Rupert met Karl Lagerfeld

When not one but two fashion giants collaborated on a range of shoes last year, the results were spectacular – remember those shoe boots with tiny axes hanging off the heel? So it’s no wonder that Karl Lagerfeld and Rupert Sanderson have decided to continue their partnership made in shoe heaven.

For Spring 2010, Rupert has reinterpreted his best-selling Asteroid and Finesse styles in white, black and silver to perfectly mesh with Lagerfeld’s eponymous line, which featured a slew of short, sharp monochrome dresses with metallic embellishments. The futuristic feel of the collection was captured in the shoes by way of an architectural stiletto heel and double straps on the front panels that wrap around and buckle underneath the sole. Said panels also feature a stencil version of Jean-Baptiste Mondino’s famous photograph of Kaiser Karl himself in rock star pose. As if that wasn’t enough, the uppers are interchangeable between the three colourways. Futurism, modern art, customisability…what more could you ask for in a shoe?

The Karl Lagerfeld collection for Rupert Sanderson is available by made to order only but you can get this season’s Asteroid online now at the Sanderson store.
